Successful SMEQA Workshop Held in Zenica: “Data collection and statistical data processing – institutional and study program level”
As part of the project Strengthening Capacities and Mechanisms for Enhancement of Quality Assurance System in Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina – SMEQA, a highly successful workshop titled “Data collection and statistical data processing – institutional and study program level” was held on 27 November 2025 at the University of Zenica.
The workshop gathered representatives of higher education institutions, ministries, and quality assurance agencies with the shared objective of strengthening capacities in data collection, processing, and use to support the enhancement of quality in higher education.
Following participant registration, welcome remarks were delivered by representatives of the University of Zenica, the Director of the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance (HEA), and the SMEQA project coordinator. The opening session highlighted the importance, aims, and expected outcomes of the workshop.
The programme featured several thematic sessions, including:
- “From Data to Recommendation: Applying Data Collection and Analysis for the Development of Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina” – HEA representative
- “From Data to Policy: The Use of Higher Education Data for Development, Planning, and Monitoring” – Representative of the Ministry of Herzegovina–Neretva Canton
- “Managing Data within Croatia’s Higher Education System: ASHE Experience” – ASHE representative
In the afternoon, participants engaged in group work, sharing institutional experiences, challenges, and examples of good practices at both the institutional and study programme levels. The results and conclusions of the working groups were subsequently presented, adding practical value and further enhancing the quality of the workshop.
The high level of participant engagement, constructive discussions, and meaningful exchange of experiences contributed to the workshop being evaluated as highly successful, with a clear contribution to strengthening capacities in data collection and analysis in the higher education sector.
The event concluded with a meeting of the Quality Board and final remarks delivered by the HEA representative.
